CJ Home Projects provides full-scope drywall installation and finishing services. We hang premium 1/2″ and 5/8″ gypsum board, stagger joints to prevent structural cracking, embed paper or fiberglass mesh tape with high-strength setting compounds, and apply up to Level 5 full-surface skim coats for showroom-grade smooth walls under critical lighting.
Whether finishing a newly framed basement in Bedford, an open-concept kitchen expansion in Nashua, or a master bedroom suite in Chelmsford, flawless walls require rigid attention to framing alignment, screw depth, and compound curing times.
We verify stud alignment and install blocking where needed. We use lightweight 1/2″ panels for standard walls and ceilings, 5/8″ Type X fire-rated drywall for garage walls and mechanical rooms, and purple moisture/mold-resistant board in bathrooms and laundry areas. Screws are set with dimpled depth setters to avoid tearing the face paper.
Joints are taped with high-tensile paper tape embedded into setting-type mud (Durabond or lightweight quick-set). Outside 90-degree corners are reinforced with high-impact vinyl or metal-backed corner beads to ensure crisp, impact-resistant straight edges that resist chips.
We apply a minimum of three distinct compound passes: an embedment coat, a fill/bedding coat feathered 8 to 10 inches wide, and a ultra-fine finish coat feathered 12 to 14 inches wide to eliminate all joint telegraphing.
| Drywall Finish Level | Process & Characteristics | Best Recommended Usage |
|---|---|---|
| Level 3 | Tape embedded, one fill coat, fastener heads covered. | Heavy textured wall finishes or low-traffic utility spaces. |
| Level 4 | Two coats of compound over joints/screws, feathered and sanded smooth. | Standard residential walls with flat or eggshell latex paint. |
| Level 5 (Premium) | Level 4 plus a complete thin skim coat applied over the entire sheetrock surface. | Critical side-lighting, large open spaces, semi-gloss paint, and luxury finishes. |
Our drywall mechanics use Festool Planex HEPA dust-extracting power sanders. By drawing vacuum suction directly through the sanding pad, 99.97% of gypsum particulate is captured before it can migrate into your home or HVAC ducts.
